New paper in J. Phys. Chem. B
Our latest paper is out in J. Phys. Chem. B! This work, a collaboration with the Kumar group (Kent State, Physics), describes new sanidic liquid crystal phases for a series of dibenzonaphthacenes we prepared.
Alexis Knight joins group
Welcome to Alexis Knight, who has joined the group as an undergraduate researcher.
Rathiesh Pandian joins group
Welcome Rathiesh!
New paper in J. Chem. Educ.
Our latest paper is out in J. Chem. Educ.! A collaboration with the Bretz group, it describes a sophomore organic lab activity that uses cholesteric liquid crystals to macroscopically distinguish enantiomers. It’s a lot of fun and doesn’t need any specialized equipment.
Lasith Kariyawasam joins group
New graduate student Lasith Kariyawasam has joined the group. Welcome Lasith!
Sam Hudson joins group
Sam Hudson (junior Chemical Engineering major) has joined the group. Welcome!
Paul and Scott attend ACS meeting in Boston
Paul and Scott will be at the ACS meeting in Boston (8/15–8/20). Paul’s giving a poster Sunday evening on board-like liquid crystals and Scott is talking on Monday afternoon on o-phenylene folding.
Zach and Scott attend Physical Organic Chemistry Gordon Research Conference
We’re both presenting posters, and are friendly. Say hi!
Zach passes his ORP
Congrats to grad student Zach Kinney on having passed his Original Research Proposal!
